Breast cancer patient’s research leads her to innovative procedure

Upstate resident Margie Bear is an open book to friends and family about her breast cancer diagnosis. There’s good reason for that. She hopes to inspire others, who also face similar journeys. She also wants them to know how important it is to research options for their care.

Margie Bear shares how overwhelmed she was when she first got her breast cancer diagnosis in September 2016. She was able to get connected with a breast care navigator at Hollings Cancer Center and form a lasting bond with surgical oncologist Andrea Abbott.
